Qpod 50cc engine trouble

Hi everyone, I have a 2001 Qpod with the 50cc two stroke Moroni engine, and it will not start. I took it for a drive after it sat all winter, and it was running poorly the whole time and then died, and would not start back up. I thought it was the carburetor, but it still won’t start after I cleaned up. I’ve cleaned the carb multiple times, tried a new spark plug, new gas, but it still won’t run. It’s getting spark, and will run for a few seconds if I spray starting fluid right in the plug hole, but that’s it. I tested the compression, it it was about 90psi. I suspect I need to buy a new piston and cylinder, but I would be interested to hear any other ideas before I do so. Thanks!
